Amazon has stopped testing delivery drones after two of its models crashed. according to to Bloomberg. This is the latest setback for the Amazon siege Prime Air appit aims to deliver about 500 million packages a year to customers by the end of the decade.
Bloomberg reports that in December, two Amazon drones crashed in rainy weather at a test facility in Pendleton, Oregon. In another incident in September, drone operators employed by the company were testing how the drones would operate if one of their propellers failed and accidentally conducted two test flights at once — causing the drones to collide, according to Bloomberg.
Amazon has said it will stop supplying drones in Texas and Arizona, where commercial drones operate, pending a software update for its drone fleet, according to Bloomberg.
Amazon’s drone program has had numerous setbacks, including one departure of key leaders. Last April, Amazon it’s over Despite Prime Air drone delivery operations, the company plans to do so in California expand drone delivery tests abroad.
