Keyshawn Davis creates drama with Shakur Stevenson confrontation

Keyshawn Davis posted a photo of him posing in a matchup with his best friend, Shakur Stevenson, on Instagram today, asking fans if that’s a fight they want to see. WBC lightweight champion Shakur already said this week that โ€œnever” fight Keyshawn without any amount of money.

The photo session

In the matchup, Keyshawn looked like a GREAT welterweight next to full-sized lightweight Stevenson. I don’t know how Davis can make it to 135, as big as he is, but I understand why he chooses to fight in this weight class. He’s an easy pick, given his massive welterweight size.

Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs) is simply using false hype to get people talking about him. He will fight next month against WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14 at the Hula Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN+. There is no rumor about Davis vs. Berinchyk fight because fans are not interested in it. Keyshawn chose the weakest link to fight for a world title instead of showing courage and going after the other champions.

The fight that won’t happen

It’s a shame Keyshawn and Shakur don’t fight because it means there will be an undisputed lightweight champion while the two share the same division and refuse to mix it up. That assumes Keyshawn can capture the WBO title against Berinchyk because if he loses that fight against the weakest link, he will never win a world title at 135. Keyshawn already looks huge for the lightweight division, like a true welterweight.

I can understand the hustle on his part, draining to fight smaller guys at 135 instead of fighting where he should be at 147 against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. Keyshawn wouldn’t stand a chance against Boots, and probably not against any of the other belt holders in the welterweight division. It is like a fish that can only exist in certain waters. You take the fish out of its habitat and it can’t exist. That’s Keyshawn to a T.

โ€œIs this what you want?โ€ Keyshawn Davis said on Instagram about a fight between him and his friend, Shakur Stevenson.

The Berinchyk Challenge

โ€œOn Valentine’s Day I didn’t receive love. I’m going to go out and get the knockout. Berinchyk, you are a great fighter,โ€ said Keyshawn Davis in his YouTube channel, talking about his fight next month, February 14, on ESPN+ against WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk.

โ€œI’m knocking him out. You know what I’m doing. It’s going to be a great victory. ‘The businessman’. Shout out to Berinchyk for giving me the opportunity, right? He gave me the opportunity, the face of big checks. We will all leave happy. It will be performed at MSG at the Hula Theater on February 14,โ€ Davis said.
