Heidi Montag on What She Took, Left Behind Amid LA Fires

Reality TV star Heidi Monday he opened up My Weekly in an exclusive interview about what she took — and what she wishes she hadn’t left behind — when evacuating the wildfires in LA.

“I didn’t know what to do” Hills the alum said Our on Wednesday, Jan. 15, referring to the moment she realized she and her family had to flee the wildfire burning through Pacific Palisades. “Nothing could have prepared me for that… You just can’t wrap your head around it. I started packing things that made sense – I didn’t really think about anything else.’

Heidi, 38, and her husband, Spencer Prattaccording to the first Instagram post shared by Spencer’s sister, they lost their home in a fire, Stephanie PrattOn January 7, Heidi and Spencer (41) have children Gunnar (7) and Ryker (2).

Heidi revealed that in her panic, her priority in packing up their lives was “baby stuff”.

“So I got their teddy bears. I happened to have Gunner’s teeth from the tooth fairy that he left in the closet, so I grabbed them,” she explained. “I grabbed some documents that we had — the ones wrapped up years ago from (previous) fires. I grabbed two pairs of jeans and two shirts. I grabbed a pair of shoes—a random pair of sneakers.”

In the couple’s haste, they were also forced to leave behind many beloved items – items that are now destroyed. One item, Spencer explains, was a special Christmas present he convinced his wife to buy for herself.

“She didn’t get anywhere,” he said Our. “Then, right before Christmas, she bought Golden Goose shoes in Palisade Village. It was her great gift. I was like, ‘Just take your Golden Goose.’ She doesn’t.

Heidi explained that she thought she would be able to “come back” for them.

“At the end of packing I thought I might not come back,” she added. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I have to go to the kids’ room and I have to catch their bears. And I had Gunner, he had a fever of 104 — he had it for days — and I was so preoccupied with him … (I was) just catching things and worrying and wandering around aimlessly.”
In addition to her new shoes, Heidi said she wished she had taken “photos,” which she explained she could no longer return.

“I don’t have any photos,” she said. “I have all these photo albums that I made for rSpencer before there was Instagram and TikTok and the iPhone. I will never have these photos again. All this sentimental stuff is just gone, you know?”

The Palisades, Eaton and other smaller fires have burned a combined 38,600 acres to date. NBC news. At least 27 people died and 12,000 buildings were destroyed. Many celebrities, incl Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton and Miles Tellerthey lost their homes in the flames.

For Heidi and Spencer, it’s not the “things” they miss, so much as their community.

“I miss our friends. I miss our daily life. I miss sending my son to school there. I miss our whole world and I’m so sad for all our friends,” she tells Us through tears. “I’m sad for our whole community. “It’s not just our loss – it’s literally our city’s loss; the community we’re all so actively a part of.”

She continued: “(It’s) just the daily routine (that) you miss – waking up in your bed with mirrors and pillows and the smells of your house and kids. It’s so hard.’
