Not wireless charging as cool as it sounds. It’s not exactly wireless—a cable runs from the outlet to the charging pad—and it won’t charge your smartphone any faster than plugging it in with a good cable. Still, I’m always disappointed try the smartphone it does not support it. I’m used to putting my phone on my pillow every night and finding a cable in the dark feels like a chore. More than anything, it’s pure comfort.
After testing over 100 products over the past few years, my colleague Simon Hill and I have sorted the good from the bad (there are definitely bad ones) and identified the best wireless chargers. There are so many styles, shapes, and construction materials to choose from, including models that double as stands, pads, wireless battery packs, and even headphone stands.

Does My Phone Support Wireless Charging?
Not all phones support wireless charging, but most brands have models that do, so look up your phone model first. You’ll usually see “Qi wireless charging” (standard standard) or simply “wireless charging”. supported phones the latest Qi2 standardBear the Qi2 logo and have a magnetic ring for easy alignment (just like Apple MagSafe). Qi2 is backwards compatible, so Qi phones can be charged with Qi2 chargers, although they may charge more slowly. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always apply the other way around, as we’ve discovered HMD Skyline Not chargeable with most Qi chargers (first Qi2 Android phone).
Do wireless chargers work with phone cases?
Yes, most wireless chargers can charge through cases, unless it’s a particularly thick case. Check the product list – there is usually a working thickness limit measured in millimeters. Phones can get hot when charging wirelessly, so don’t worry about your phone being really hot when you pick it up. Most smartphones have limits to stop charging if it overheats.

Some manufacturers like Apple and OnePlus make wireless chargers that charge their phones faster than others, but if you’re looking for speed, you’re better off sticking with a cable. Wireless charging is best for desks or nightstands when you’re not actually using your phone or you’re in a rush to charge it.
What is Fast Wireless Charging Speed?
The latest MagSafe and Qi2 chargers It can reach up to 15 watts, and there are several special wireless chargers for specific phone models that can charge faster. It’s worth noting that even where phones support them, maximum charge rates are only reached some of the time (the charge rate is automatically adjusted to protect battery health). Many older iPhones use 7.5 watts for wireless charging, and many older Android phones use 10 watts. We’ve included the maximum wireless charging speed in the specs table for each entry. Remember that it also requires a charger correct cable and a power adapter to charge at maximum speed.
Is it safe to use wireless charging?
There is no conclusive evidence that it is harmful. You may be concerned that a phone’s battery may deteriorate more quickly with wireless charging, but manufacturers set safe limits for phone batteries, stipulating how long they can be charged and how far they can be discharged. Regardless of the charging source you use, whether you plug into a wall adapter or use a wireless charging pad, these limitations cannot be overridden. There’s no risk of overcharging your phone by leaving it on a wireless charger overnight.
How can I keep my phone battery healthy?
Try to keep the battery between 50 and 80 percent optimal battery health. Keeping your phone fully charged or completely draining the battery will degrade it a little faster, and switching between full and empty regularly shortens its life. Battery technology has improved in recent years and phone batteries are more reliable than ever. If you replace phones every two to three years, or don’t mind paying a small fee for battery replacement during that period, you don’t need to worry too much about how often or when to charge your phone.
