Residents are being evacuated in the san diego area as firefighters battle a forest fire that threatens homes.
CalFire San Diego confirmed that they were helping the city of Poway, which is 34 miles from San Diego, with a vegetation fire near Pomerado Road and Ted Williams Parkway that erupted around 1 p.m. Monday.

At 3 p.m., the city of Poway confirmed that “progress has stopped.”
“3:00 pm update: Poway Fire Department has stopped progress,” the city wrote in an update on X.

Authorities said the fire initially spanned two acres and threatened structures.
“Poway Fire Department responds to a brush fire near Ted Willams and Pomerado Road. Traffic on Ted Williams and Pomerado is affected; road closures are expected. Residents of Glen Oak Way and Wilsey Way are being evacuated” , the city wrote in a previous publication in INCOGNITA.

Authorities say the wildfire was being driven by strong winds and had the potential to grow.
Cal Fire crews were also assisting at the scene and a helicopter was called in to provide air support.
The sheriff’s office said a temporary evacuation point is being set up at Abraxas High School located at 12450 Glen Oak Road in Poway.

This is the second fire to hit Southern California on Monday, when a small wildfire broke out in Los Angeles near the iconic Griffith Observatory.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that the fire was “completely extinguished in 31 minutes” and never exceeded a quarter-acre.
“All threatened structures were successfully defended and sustained no damage,” the alert said.

Los Angeles Police Department He later confirmed that a witness saw a young man who had lit a fire in the area and left.
Officials arrested the suspectwho they said was probably a passerby, and they detained him. His identity has not been revealed.
