At 11:45 a.m. on Monday, the media finally felt the scorpion’s sting. It was delivered by President Joe Biden, who shattered any pretense of principle in forgiving family members allegedly involved in the influence peddling corruption scandal.

Y, Z, if I receive one call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang or the president, I will make sure that between the man sitting next to me and every person you know and my ability to hold a grudge forever, you will regret it. of not having followed my instructions. I’m sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”
That feeling of impunity It was because the mainstream media formed a protective shell around the family. The media refused to pursue the scandal despite Hunter Biden’s laptop and clear evidence of influence peddling.
In 2020, CBS News’ Lesley Stahl literally laughed derisively at then-President Donald Trump when he held up the Hunter Biden laptop and what it revealed about the Bidens. (However, Stahl still recently expressed confusion and alarm that people were abandoning traditional media for new ones.)
Journalists assured citizens that the laptop was alleged “Russian disinformation.” Even after the media belatedly acknowledged that it was authentic, analysts at MSNBC and the Washington Post were still making that claim last year.
After republicans When the House was detailing million-dollar payments, the media went on to claim that there was no real scandal unless it was proven that Joe Biden actually received money directly. It was a ridiculous claim, as courts have long treated money going to family members the same as money going directly to the principal as criminal conduct.
The media continued to protect Biden, as evidence showed that Biden had repeatedly lied about not meeting with Hunter’s clients or having knowledge of his foreign business dealings.
As the media narrative continued to crumble, he clung to Biden’s promise that he would never forgive his son, proof that the president was willing to let the criminal justice system take its course.
Biden was later shown to be lying about the pardon promise. After being expelled from the election, Biden signed a pardon for any crimes committed by his son over a decade.
The media muttered “grunts” and moved on. Many said it was understandable for a father of a son struggling with drugs.
Now, in the final minutes of his presidency, Biden forgave his other family members allegedly involved, including James Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John Owens and Francis Biden.

James Biden was previously referred for criminal charges for lying under oath before Congress as part of its investigation into the corruption scandal.
The pardons were clearly timed to avoid media scrutiny and questions. While he described the act as one of “conscience,” it was an almost mocking act of corruption.

It was as honest a moment as Biden telling a friend that “nobody fucks with a Biden.” There was nothing revealing in this about Biden. You might shrug your shoulders and say, “It’s in my nature.” Instead, the pain fell on the media, which trusted that Biden would not demean them further with such an unethical and shameful final act.
The curious thing is that Biden managed to cross the river. He boarded his last flight with his family (and himself) protected by the misuse of his presidential authority. However, if he looked out the window, he could see his allies in the media slipping stunned beneath the waters.
