Kevin Roberts, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank, called Trump’s speech “substantive” in outlining the president’s agenda for the next four years.
“Trump was specific in his policies from start to finish,” Roberts said. “And I think that’s something that will be remembered as a hallmark of the speech, because people, Americans who will wake up tomorrow watching the news, reading the news, will remember that Trump articulated a playbook.”

Trump notably criticized “the cruel, violent and unjust use of weapons by the Department of Justice” as well as the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of domestic and foreign affairs while the former president and vice president looked on. Trump specifically highlighted the hurricane disasters in North Carolina and the recent wildfires that ravaged southern California.

“We have a government that has provided unlimited funds for the defense of foreign borders but refuses to defend American borders or, more importantly, its own people,” Trump said.

Trump’s speech on specific policies was “very important right now because of all the policy failures of the Biden-Harris regime,” Roberts told Fox News Digital on Monday. “And I know from the kind of work that Heritage does, not just in DC but in states across the country, that Trump’s base and many of the independent voters who voted for him this time (were) looking for a political plan, and expressed it.”
“President Trump has officially begun a new chapter for America,” Jessica Anderson, president of the conservative super PAC Sentinel Action Fund, told Fox News Digital on Monday. “His speech was one of hope and unity and set the tone for the next four years of prosperity, security and strength.”

Roberts said: “I think Trump pointed out something that, at this point, will be an underrated part of his legacy, and that is an American innovation president.”
“In other words, making America great again is bringing manufacturing and economic vitality “Going back to a level where the innovation is so tremendous that you can’t even understand, as you’re sitting here, what it’s going to be.”
Roberts said that such invocation of the “true spirit of America” in Trump’s speech indicated “returning American economic and manufacturing vitality” during his second administration, which was a theme that Roberts said both Ronald Reagan and John F.
