In a new interview with Fashion posted on Monday, January 20 by the 38-year-old actor, who shares his 10-month-old baby girl with longtime love Suki Waterhousetalked about his unexpected parenting skills.
“I remember people being like, ‘Oh, you don’t like the smell of babies?’ but I thought she only smelled baby powder,” he said. “But then I had a baby and I was like, ‘My baby smells incredible.’ There’s something there, I can identify her. She doesn’t smell like other babies.”
Pattinson and Waterhouse, who have been dating since 2018, welcomed their daughter into the world in March 2024. Six months later, on the red carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards in New York, the model, actress and singer declared that her man was truly fantastic dad.

“He’s the greatest!” Waterhouse gushed, adding that she wasn’t sure who her daughter was rooting for the most. “I don’t know. It just keeps changing,” she said. “He has such a sweet personality. It’s really sweet to see.” And by the sound of things, smell!
Waterhouse, 33, also said Today in September that Pattinson even loved changing their daughter’s diapers. “They think it’s fun,” she said. “Surprise and all.
It’s clear that Pattinson has thrown himself into fatherhood with gusto. He told reporters at the Dior Homme Menswear fashion show in Paris last summer that he was loving every minute of it. “She’s so cute,” he said. “And you know, I’m amazed at how quickly their personalities come out. So even at 3 months, I’m like, ‘Oh… I can see who it is.'”

Waterhouse has previously spoken about how great her relationship with Pattinson is. “I’m shocked that I’ve been so happy with someone for almost five years,” she said The Sunday Times in 2023. “I’m always incredibly excited to see his name pop up (on my phone) or even a text message, and I think he feels the same way about me. We always have so much to talk about and I find him cheerful.’
