Donald Trump considers applying 10% tariffs to China starting in February

US President Donald Trump has said he is considering imposing a 10% tariff on imports of products made in China starting February 1.

Trump said conversations with his administration were “based on the fact that they are shipping fentanyl to Mexico and Canada.”

This followed Trump’s threats to impose 25% import taxes on Mexico and Canada, accusing them of allowing undocumented immigrants and drugs into the United States.

On his first day in office, the new president also ordered federal agencies to conduct a review of existing trade agreements and identify unfair practices by America’s trading partners.
