Jonathan Lipnicki he never lost the acting bug growing up and out of the spotlight.
“Really, it was kind of just for high school,” Lipnicki, 34, said AND! News in an interview published on Tuesday, January 21. I still had my agent, I auditioned here and there.’
The actor was still a child when he became famous Stuart Little and Jerry Maguire in the 90s. While he admits he didn’t play much in the late 2000s, it wasn’t for lack of effort.
“I tried a lot of things and I just didn’t get anything. I guess you can say that, right?” he shared. “Acting is something that I’ve always loved and sometimes it just doesn’t love you. There was a period where I didn’t work for a while and I went for it.”
Lipnicki said he continued to take acting classes and tried his best to “be consistent with who” he was.
“There was just a part where maybe I wasn’t very good, and that’s fine,” he explained in his latest interview. “Maybe it’s my thing and I’m more than willing to constantly work on myself and take responsibility and control for what I can control.”
Later this month, Lipnicki will hit the small screen, playing a fictionalized, over-the-top version of himself on The Joe Schmo Show.
He is moderating Deeley the catthe show features a new cast of improvised characters who help act out a mock-reality competition scenario centered around a regular guy.
Win or lose, Lipnicki said he always finds positives in an industry that isn’t always predictable.
“I had to figure out from a young age what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I’ll never be mad about it,” he said more than 25 years after playing. Renee Zellwegerhis son in Jerry Maguire. “I’m always grateful for that. I live more present now and really try to focus on who I am now and what that will look like in the future. But I am extremely grateful for my past.”
He also focuses on being the “best person” he can be as he follows his heart and continues his acting journey.
“I’ve been through it — the ups and the downs — and it’s still the thing I love to do in my life,” he said. “I know the best is yet to come.
