“You’re not going to understand it”: Teófimo López makes fun of Richardson Hitchins about the belts

Teofimo Lopez showed off his belt collection today on X and made fun of IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins. Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) let Hitchins know that he will not capture his belts.

Forecast 2025

The belts Teofimo showed off will likely disappear in his next fight against Hitchins, a nightmare matchup for Teo. This guy is going to do to Teo what George Kambosos Jr. did to him.

Teofimo is expected to fight two opponents in 2025: Hitchins and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. He could fight Hitchins first in the summer and Boots in October. This could be a bad year for Lopez as he lost both of his fights and then entered February 2026 with his career on the line against either Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia.

Lopez won’t get much criticism from fans for losing to Boots Ennis because he would move up to 147 to face the best fighter in the division. However, Teo will not receive the same free pass if he is defeated by Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) and then embarrassed when facing the loser of the Haney vs. Haney rematch. García 2 in February 2026.

Teófimo looked bad for turning down what his promoter, Bob Arum, says was the highest salary of his career to defend himself against Subriel Matías. The purse would have been big and he could have made more on the PPV. Rejecting him seemed like a ducking move for Teofimo, showing that he is afraid.

Show off the belt

“Hey, Richardson, you can be training right now, kid. You’re not going to understand it,” Teófimo López said on X, showing off his belt collection and mocking IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins.

“Hey, Boots, we’re going for three,” Teofimo said about wanting to capture the IBF welterweight title from Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis to become a three-division world champion.
