Southwest Passengers Sing ‘YMCA’ As They Fly to DC for President Trump’s Inauguration


A flight bound for Washington, DC, was packed with passengers celebrating the president’s inauguration. donald trump in style playing the song that has become associated with the commander in chief’s campaign: “YMCA”

Sarah Rogers, a resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, shared a video on TikTok capturing her “unique” flight experience on Southwest, which has since garnered more than 2 million views.

Rogers told Fox News Digital that her husband surprised her on Christmas with tickets to Trump’s inauguration.

“I’m usually not a very political person, but over the last year I got pretty involved in the Trump campaign… and (my husband) knew that I was really involved in this,” Rogers said.

“When Trump won and we knew he was going to be president, he decided to book this trip for me… We spent money on it, but for me it was worth it. It was a Christmas gift. It’s a unique gift. An experience of a lifetime.”

Rogers flew from Oklahoma to Houston, where he made a stop before taking off for the nation’s capital on Sunday.

He said he was waiting calmly at the door with the rest of the people. the passengers when an individual on the flight stood up and began waving a Trump sign. The moment was received with a standing ovation from other travelers.

Rogers said he felt most passengers realized they were “a little bit like-minded.”

“Once we all got on board and everything, there was a vibe in the air like we were all excited to go to DC for the inauguration,” he added.

“Before we took off, (the flight attendant) said, ‘I just want to ask, is there anyone on this flight going to the inauguration?’ And everyone started applauding.”

When the plane hit the runway in DC, “YMCA” of the townspeople It began to ring over the intercom and the cabin lights changed to red and blue.

In the video, recorded by Rogers, passengers are seen performing the iconic choreography associated with the 1978 disco number.

Rogers said not everyone on the flight seemed to be headed to the inauguration, and there were some passengers who didn’t join in the celebration, but they were still respectful and let everyone “have their moment.”

“Being on the plane and then (the flight crew) playing (at the ‘YMCA’) wasn’t expected at all, but it was a really fun vibe,” he added.

“I think everyone is very hopeful… with expectations of what the next four years are going to bring, and everyone was really united in that moment and that song, even though it doesn’t necessarily have a political meaning behind it, because it’s like the Trump song. “We all came together and felt very unified.”

When Rogers arrived in Washington, D.C., he woke up at 3 a.m. on Inauguration Day and stood in line for five hours in the freezing cold before entering Capital One Arena to watch the ceremony.
