Samsung Unpacked 2025: Samsung’s AI-centric Galaxy S25 Ultra goes on sale on February 7 for $1,300

Samsung on Wednesday announced the latest additions to its Galaxy S flagship smartphone line at the company’s annual event Samsung Unpacked 2025. As suspected, the defining feature of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra is the company’s continued focus on mobile artificial intelligence — something that hardly sets the consumer electronics giant apart from the rest of the industry.

Leading the trio is the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The $1,300 successor to the stylus-sporting Galaxy Note keeps the same price point as last year’s model. The phone has a 6.9-inch display and a quartet of rear cameras: a 50-megapixel ultra-wide, a 200-megapixel wide-angle, and a pair of telephoto lenses with 3x and 5x optical zoom, respectively.

The Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship, the Snapdragon 8 Elite — the same chip found in all three S25 tiers. Once again, Samsung has added its own tweaks and accompanying branding to the silicon, as the vanilla version will power most of the flagship smartphones released over the next 12 months.

The company promises a 37% performance boost on CPU processing and a 30% boost on the GPU side. Of course, the NPU (neural processing unit) gets the biggest boost at 40%, thanks to both the relative infancy of processors and the industry-wide focus on all things artificial and intelligent.

The S25 Ultra and S25+ have access to ProScaler. The AI image ‘sharpening’ feature apparently requires their QHD+ display resolution to work properly. And gaming graphics improvements are achieved through Snapdragon’s on-device Vulcan Engine and Ray Tracing features. The device is cooled by a 40% larger vapor chamber.

Meanwhile, Google’s AI offerings have become even more central to the device’s functionality. Gone are the days of quick access to Home and Bixby. In their place, Twins can now be activated by long pressing the device’s side button. In addition to Circle to Search, which debuted in the Galaxy line, the devices also feature a variety of writing and drawing functions powered by generative artificial intelligence.

The Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery along with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, and it comes in Titanium Silver Blue, Titanium White Silver, Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, and pink, gold, and green colors and is available exclusively to buyers. directly through Samsung.

All three S25 models are available for pre-order on Wednesday, with deliveries starting on February 7.
