Online Writings Linked to Gunman in Nashville, Tennessee Antioch High School They include racist and anti-Semitic content, photographs of a gun and praise for mass murderers, according to a report.
Investigators at the local, state and federal levels are reviewing the writings as they try to figure out why a 17-year-old opened fire inside his Nashville Area High School Wednesday, killing 16-year-old Joseelin Corea Escalante and wounding a 17-year-old before taking his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Homicide Unit detectives, along with their law enforcement partners at MNPD and federal and state agencies, are examining very concerning online writings and social media posts related to (the teen) as they work to establish the motive behind the shooting of (the teen) this morning in the Antioch High School cafeteria,” the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said.
“The investigation to this point has not established a connection between (the teen) and the two shooting victims. It may be that they were hit by random gunshots in the cafeteria,” police added.

The writings, posted on a social media account allegedly operated by the gunman identified by police, contain the layout of Antioch High School, photographs of a gun and an image of a flyer for a white supremacist neo-Nazi group that visited Nashville on last summer. , according to WTVF.
The broadcaster described the material as anti-Semitic and the gunman allegedly expressed that he had been thinking about violence for a few months.
The material also contained an image of the shooter who killed three children and three staff members at Covenant School in Nashville in 2023 and praise for other mass shooters, WTVF reported.
Nashville police said during a news conference that the suspected shooter, who was armed with a handgun, fired multiple shots inside Antioch High School on Wednesday.

Online streaming platform Kick said the attack was “partially livestreamed” and “quickly banned the account and deleted the video.”
“Violence has no place at KICK. We are actively working with authorities and taking all appropriate measures to support their investigation,” he said in a statement.
He MNPD said Two school resource officers assigned to Antioch High School were in another part of a building when gunshots were heard.
“They ran to the cafeteria and arrived just after (the teen) committed suicide,” police added.

“On behalf of this entire police department, I extend our deepest condolences to the students, parents and staff of Antioch High,” Chief John Drake said in a statement. “Our officers and counselors will work to be a part of the healing process in the coming days and weeks.”
