with Oscars 2025 is fast approaching, it’s time to break down the biggest movies of this year.
Ten films are vying for the biggest prize at the 97th Academy Awards, which will air Sunday, March 2 on ABC. Nominations for this year’s ceremony were announced on Thursday, January 23 with Emilia Perez tops the list thanks to a total of 13 nods and follows Brutalist and Evil with 10
All three films also received acting nominations for several of their stars, incl Karla Sofia Gascón and Cynthia Erivo for best actress in a leading role, Zoe Saldana and Ariana Grande for Best Supporting Actress and Adrien Brody for best actor in a leading role.
Dune: Part Two and Nickel Boys are the only two Best Picture nominees to not receive any acting nominations. Meanwhile, top movie stars such as Mike Madison and Demi Moore became the first Oscar nominees for their performances in Anora and Substancerespectively
