JoJo Was ‘Cussed Out in the Street by Ex’ After Release of Memoir

Joanna “JoJo” Levesque after her release she has no regrets tell a memoir, Above the influence.

“My ex was cussing me out on the street,” JoJo, 34, said exclusively My Weekly while promoting his new EP, NGL. “He didn’t like the way I was… I don’t know. We didn’t even talk about it.”

While JoJo didn’t name the ex she was referring to, she noted that it’s “weird” to have “a 40-year-old telling me to leave.” JoJo joked, “But you know what? We are all on our own journey.”

JoJo explained that she sent her former flame the manuscript of her book. “He told me to F leave. And I was like, ‘Dang. It’s crazy,” she recalled. “But I said what I said anyway, and I had to accept that not everyone was going to be happy about it.

IN Above the influencewhich was released in September 2024, JoJo recalled her unhealthy relationship with sex, drugs and alcohol. JoJo candidly shared details of her love life — including losing her virginity at age 14 and a 16-year-old soccer player. Freddy Adu.

After having an affair with Adu’s boyfriend, JoJo said she stayed sober for a year before moving in with an unnamed person she called “my man” in the memoir. JoJo claimed that her mystery man proposed to her on her birthday in December 2021, but the relationship then unraveled. (Though she hasn’t mentioned him by name, JoJo has before he got engaged to the actor Dexter Darden in 2021.)

“It’s my story. Look, if I had written it in a year or five years, I would have told different stories probably in a different way,” JoJo said. Our. “But this was the story.

Many topics in Above the influence is reflected in JoJo’s new EP, NGL. Reflecting on the release of the EP, JoJo said she “can’t believe” it’s been four years since her last album.

“This album was about being single and moving to a new city and feeling strong and really more comfortable and confident in your own skin than you ever have been,” she said.
