The promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that there have been conversations between Turki al-Sheikh and the lightweight welter champions Richardson Hitchins and Teófimo López for an upcoming unification fight in 140. Hearn is confident that his fighter, the Fib Hitchins champion ( 19-0, 7 kos) will then defeat the OMB belt holder, Teófimo (21-1, 13 kos).
It was reported that Teófimo signed a three fighting contract with Turki for these three fighting:
“Yes, there has been. Not with Top Rank, but with its excellence (Turki al-Sheikh), ”said Eddie Hearn to fight When asked if there have been discussions for a unification fight between Richardson Hitchins and Teófimo López.
“Keith Connolly represents both boys. So, we are ready for that fight. Richardson is ready to launch a unification fight from the beginning. The treatment has to be correct, obviously, but there is no problem. That is a brilliant fight for New York, Teo against Hitchins, and we won that fight well.
“Then, forget the plans for Teófimo López. Richardson Hitchins will beat Teófimo López. So, we are ready for that fight. Teófimo López probably, ”said Hearn when asked what he is still for Hitchins. “Before Teófimo, we were simply planning George Kambosos’s fight in New York in the summer”
Hearn is right. Hitchins will defeat Teófimo 100% and make it look easy in the process. This will be an even easier victory for Hitchins than his dominant victory over the 140 -pound champion of the FIB, Liam unemployment, on December 7. If Turki wants Teófimo to accept three hard fights as part of his contract with him, he will lose them all, starting with Richardson.
Teófimo will not fight against Hitchins unless Turki al-Sheikh offers him a lot of money because that is not his style to face difficult fights, especially after he burned in his fighting against Jamaine Ortiz, Sandor Martin and George Kambosos Jr.
“George will return. It will be back in Australia and then the plan is to move it directly to Richardson Hitchins. If Hitchins fights López, we’ll see what happens, but George is looking for an opportunity in 147, and we’ll see what happens, ”said Hearn.
Nobody wants to see Kambosos Jr. to be the one who faces Hitchins for his FIB belt because he has no chance of having an opportunity for the world title with his terrible record in the last three years. Kambosos is aimed at the status of an officer, and does not consider having an opportunity for the title with his 1-3 record in his last four fights. You do not go to the championship with that type of record in any other sport.
