Daniel Dubois says he wants to fight for the undisputed championship against the winner of the rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk 2 after successfully defending his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker on February 22.
Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) and Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) will be the co-features on the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 in 65 days in Riyadh. Parker, 32, has a title shot after recently beating Deontay Wilder and WBC interim champion Zhilei Zhang in back-to-back fights.
Dubois, 27, has power, youth and momentum going for him with his recent knockout victories over Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller. He stopped Joshua in the fifth round on September 21 in a four-knockdown performance at Wembley Stadium in London.
“I want that next and I know I deserve it because I beat AJ. I put him to sleep and now I’m that guy. They have to fight me,” Daniel Dubois told Exit seconds about wanting to fight for the undisputed championship against the winner of the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 fight.
“It’s going to be a good fight. It’s going to be a real war. He’ll come and try to take my head off, and I’ll do the same thing,” Dubois said of his title defense against Joseph Parker on February 22. “Let’s see. I’m ready to go though.”
“I’m not even studying that yet. Put him in the ring with me and we’ll see what happens,” Dubois said of how he evaluates Parker compared to his recent opponents talent-wise. I haven’t taken my foot off the accelerator. We are going to try harder on this case,” Dubois said.
Parker, as he has transformed into a shrewd move, and does not let go of his hands with bad intentions like he used to before his 11th round knockout loss to Joe Joyce on September 24, 2022. Since that loss, Parker has won his last five fights, but he hasn’t faced anyone like Dubois.
“I’m not going to tell you. Let’s get a game plan (for Parker). It’s war. Come on. It was great to do it in front of the British public. That was a special moment. The people we brought with us, the music. It was successful. We need to keep that momentum going and now we’ll move on to the next one. Keep proving them wrong,” Dubois said in his message to his skeptics.
