Chip company Nvidia has received the green light from the European Union to complete its acquisition of Run:ai.
The EU today unanimously decided that Nvidia can proceed with its acquisition of Israeli GPU orchestration platform Run:ai. Bloomberg reported on this. The European Commission found that Nvidia would still be available on the market if the merger went through other compatible hardware options, and thus the merger would not create a monopoly.
Despite EU approval, the deal is still ongoing Maintained by the Ministry of Justice in the US and it is unclear when/if it will be approved.
Still, this is good news for other AI startups with acquisition and acquisition aspirations, as it suggests consolidation in the AI market is welcome — at least for now.
According to Bloomberg, citing local Israeli media, the purchase price is estimated to be around $700 million, although the terms of the deal were not disclosed. That was the deal first announced in April.
