Ciara looking for another dance icon.
The “Level Up” singer, 39, launched the “Dancing icon” — in collaboration with Colossal — an online fundraiser dance competition where people can vote to give an unknown dancer their big break. The winner will appear in Ciara’s latest music video and take home $20,000.
“I identify with the power of dance and how it inspires others. I thought ‘Dance Icon’ would be such a fun way to tap into the world of dancers out there,” Ciara shared in an exclusive statement. My Weekly on Monday, December 9. “I know firsthand that when the dance community comes together, truly amazing things happen, and I look forward to realizing the impact we are capable of when we come together.”
Ciara’s resume proves that she is the perfect choice to host the pageant. In 2004, she released her hit single “Goodies” and the same album, which became her first No. 1 and topped Billboard’s Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks. In 2006, she won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video Missy Elliot“Losing Control” in which she appeared. Ciara recently released “Wassup.” Bust of Rhymes in September and vinyl for the 20th anniversary of this album Goodies.
But aside from her vocal accomplishments, the “1.2 Step” singer is also known for her killer dance moves: she’s won three Soul Train Awards for Best Dance Performance in 2010, 2013, and 2018.
“Dancing allows me to express my most creative self,” said Ciara Our on Monday. “I love to dance to fast tempos, but ultimately it’s the music that inspires my movement. Whether it’s fast or slow – whenever I start dancing, I feel something special is happening and that something allows me to be completely free in the music.”
Dance Icon will benefit Why not the foundationsCiara and her husband Russell Wilson‘a non-profit organization that promotes student access to equal educational opportunity, child health initiatives and food security.
Voting starts on Monday, February 3 and ends on Friday, April 18, 2025. All voters get one free vote every 24 hours; additional votes can be purchased and the proceeds go to the Why Not You Foundation account. The dancers with the most votes are narrowed down each week and the final eight dancers will head to Scottsdale, Arizona for a live dance competition to perform in person for Ciara and Jamaican craftsmanshipher longtime choreographer.

Dance Icon registration is now open to dancers nationwide aged 13+.
