The Ukrainian unmanned aircraft strike hits the second Russian oil refinery in a week

Ukraine says that his forces successfully beat an oil refinery in the Russian city of Kstovo, about 800 kilometers (500 miles) from the front in eastern Ukraine.

Four drones hit a deposit of the Lukoil company, said Ukrainian media, added that the installation suffered significant damage.

The videos published on social networks showed great flames that rose on an industrial installation.

Regional governor Gleb Nikitin said the drone waste had fallen over the industrial zone, and that no victims had been reported on the scene.

Separately, the governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anakhin, said in Telegram that a “massive drone attack against” civil infrastructure “had occurred in his region, although victims were not immediately reported.

Anokhin said one of the drones had been shot down when trying to hit a nuclear energy center. BBC has not been able to verify this information independently.

A mother and her child were killed in the border region of Belgorod, which has been under frequent attack by Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s large -scale invasion in February 2022.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, said that another child and his father were also injured in the strike.

The strike against Kstovo, Smolensk and Belgorod were part of a larger night attack, in which Russia said it demolished more than 100 Ukrainian drones and led to the airports of St. Petersburg and Kazan to suspend operations during the night.

It is one of its largest Ukrainian operations during the war and the second mass attack of drones this week. On Friday, Ukraine hit another Russian oil refinery and attacked Moscow during an attack that involves a wave of at least 121 drones.

While the Ukrainian drones swarmed the heavens of Russia, Moscow launched an own night attack, causing aerial alerts in several Ukrainian regions.

The Ukrainian army said it demolished 29 Russian drones in nine regions.

As the third anniversary of Ukraine invasion in Russia approaches, the conflict moves.

Russia is making small regular advances in eastern Ukraine, getting closer to the strategically important city of Pokrovsk, which plays a crucial role as a logistics center used by Ukrainian forces in the region.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces continue to cling to several hundred square kilometers of territory in the western region of Kursk of Russia, where they launched a ray offensive in August.
