Jesse Tyler Ferguson he has nothing but love for his own Modern family costars – though his TV daughter, Aubrey Anderson-Emmonssometimes she leaves him to read.

“I just called her the other day and it went straight to voicemail,” Ferguson, 49, exclusively said My Weekly of Anderson-Emmons, 17, while promoting her partnership with Tovala for their smart oven.

He joked that being silenced was a stroke to his ego. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, she sent me to voicemail!’ Ferguson continued. “I call her and she sends me to voicemail. He says, ‘Oh my God, my TV dad is calling me.'”

The actor noted that he met Anderson-Emmons when she was just 3 years old, so he still thinks of her as a little girl sometimes. “But you know, she’s a different human being now,” he admitted.

Ferguson played Mitchell Pritchett Modern family for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020. Anderson-Emmons joined the cast in 2011 as Mitchell and Cameron Tucker’s husband (Eric Stonestreet) daughter of Lily Tucker-Pritchett.

Although Ferguson didn’t like being sent to voicemail by his former colleague, he said Our he would like to reunite with Anderson-Emmons and others the rest of the cast for the film.

Ferguson added that he would “like to check in with Lily” and see how she acts like a teenagerwho would be “almost on her way to college”.

As for the rest of the storyline, he felt that it should not be “too different from the series”. Instead, Ferguson suggested that a possible move would be a “deeper history of what’s happened over the last five years” and what kids are “engaged” in that time.

Ferguson doesn’t really care about the script, revealing that the tight-knit cast is just “dying to get everyone back together. we love each other so many.”

Ferguson explained that the facility was making time for dinner without stress. “I’m such a foodie too. I don’t like just throwing food out of the microwave,” he said, adding that Toval’s smart oven makes him feel like he’s “still somehow involved” in the cooking process.
