Jaime Munguia will be connected to coach Eddy Reynoso to assume the position of his new coach after his disturbing Fifth Round defeat against Bruno Sureace little known last December.
This is a useless and useless movement on the part of Munguia because Eddy Reynoso is not a magician that will magically give him a talent that does not exist. This is like reorganizing sun loungers on a ship that sinks. Reynoso cannot save it.
Munguia (44-2, 35 kos) is moving from Erik Morales, the captain of his ship that sinks, in his elimination defeat against Surace on December 14 in Tijuana, Mexico. Morales did the best he could with Munguia, but could not block Cobra de Surace’s blows.
It was just a matter of time before he was knocked out in that fight, and it wasn’t a shock when it happened. If Munguia possessed Erik Morales’s talent, he wouldn’t need to move on to his third coach.
Reynoso told @Boxazteca7 that he will work with the medium -sized Munguia weight contender. This will allow Jaime to rub his shoulders with Canelo Álvarez, who gave him a very critical opportunity for last year after his victories against these three fighters:
– John Ryder: *Returning from a defeat against Canelo
– Sergiy Derevyanchenko: 39
– Gonzalo Gaston Coria
Most would agree Canelo should never have given Munguia An opportunity for the title based on his three victories in Super Middleweight after he moved to 168 in 2023. Munguia had been horrible against Derevyanchenko, barely hitting him for a close unanimous decision of 12 rounds on June 10, 2023.
Munguia has lost two of its last three fights since it went up to 168, and it seems that it does not belong to this kind of weight. It is not that it was washed. It is more a case of Munguia that lacks talent to be one of the main players in 168. He was never such a good fighter from the first moment.
Hardcore boxing fans are aware that Jaime was always a limited fighter from 2019 when fans gave him a controversial victory over Dennis Hogan and booed from the sand. It has been carefully maneuvered around the murderers to 154, 160 and 168 to hit the mother’s burden with the great payment day against Canelo last year on May 4.
You have more chances of capturing a belt in the medium weight, but only because the division is sterile of talent at this time. Almost anyone with a pinch of skill has the opportunity to win a belt at 160, which is perfect for Munguia.
Reynoso has been the lifelong coach of Canelo Álvarez, but he is not a miraculous worker. Although Eddy has succeeded with Álvarez, he will not be able to do much with Munguia unless he is protected from sharks at 168. If he is 100% protected, he could pick up a belt if Canelo retires, but only if he is carefully paired.
Munguia is expected to face Surece in a rematch on April 12 in Tijuana. That is a fight that could lose again, and it will not matter a bit if Reynoso is that of his corner that night. Surace has a right hand similar to the cobra that Munguia is too slow to block
