Coach Stephen Edwards questions if David Benavidez will be the same fighter after absorbing a lot of punishment for the powerful, young and Atlético Cubano David Morrell on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Edwards points out that Benavés’ face seemed very marked, and Morrell had hurt him several times. The 11 was particularly difficult for Benavidity, since Morrell was hitting him. Fortunately, the round ended before it could end.
The 12 -year -old Benavász has had a long career, and is already showing signs of wear of those years. Most fighters are shot for when they get so far in their careers. Benavész has happened to him fighting smaller fighters, but he still adds.
We visited the miles in his engine last Saturday, and he looked much older than Morrell and received a bad beating.
Benavász hit Morrell twice after the bell, and when the Cuban responded, the referee hit him a point. The infraction of Benavínez was overlooked.
Morrell was the strongest fighter at the end and was distributing serious punishment to Benavidez’s face. The Mexican monster no longer looked like himself.
Benavidez obtained the unanimous decision of 12 rounds based on his previous work, but may have paid a price for his victory. If you are going to fight against the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs. rematch. Dmitry Bivol 2 could be food for any of those murderers.
They would delight with a ‘Mexican monster’. If Benavidez is not up to the task of fighting against the winner of Bederbiev-Bivol 2, Morrell will step forward to take the fight. He is the youngest fighter with fewer miles in his odometer than Benavász.
“Maybe, but they may have left a piece of themselves in the ring. That was a difficult fight. Benavász looked at him. It seemed that Felix Trinidad did it when he beat Vargas. (December 2, 2000), ”said Stephen Edwards for Millcity boxing When asked if he would like to see a rematch between David Morrell and David Benavidez.
“If you follow Tito’s career after that, a year later, he ended (when he lost to Bernard Hopkins). After Bernard’s fight, there was no Tito. That was a difficult fight (Morrell vs. Benavidez). Morrell has big hands, is a very strong guy and is athletic. He hit Benavidez with a little shit. That was a difficult fight.
“You could see the stress on David’s face. That was not an easy fight. I was impressed Morrell. It was strong at the end. I was in good condition. I thought Benavidity won eight or nine rounds. That was a hard fight. That boy (Morrell) is strong, is Atlético, is talented, came to win. He is young and is at his best. He built Benavász with a couple of shooting. “
Benavész seemed to wait for a kitten of kittens. He was very stressed because Morrell was still there in the posterior rounds, and hit him with shots between Pitty-Pat combinations. Morrell was doing serious damage.
If this had been an old 15 -round fight, Morrell would probably have eliminated Benavász because he was exhausted at the end. He had nothing in his shots and Morrell was being shaken.
“Morrell began to buzz him a couple of times. His face (Benavidez) marked. He tired a little, ”Edwards said.
Stephen expresses it lightly when he says that Benavés’s face marked and is “a little fatigued.” His face looked like Balboa’s rocky character of his first fight with Apollo Creed. He had absorbed the value of a Morrell career.
