Moderate Senad Susan CollinsR-MAINE, revealed his plan to support the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard to be director of National Intelligence (DNI) on Monday night.
“After an extensive consideration of your nomination, I will support Tulsi Gabbard To be the national intelligence director, “he said in a statement.
“As one of the main authors of the Law on Intelligence and Terrorism Prevention of 2004 that established this coordinating position, I understand the critical role that the DNI plays in the intelligence community. Larger than what was designed to be, And Mrs. Gabbard shares my vision of returning to the agency to its planned size.

Collins is in the Select Senate Intelligence Committee, which will embark on a fundamental vote on the Gabbard nomination on Tuesday, the sources confirmed to Fox News Digital.
The Republican of Maine has developed a reputation for occasionally tearing his group, more recently he does it in the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s Confirmation vote.
His support for Gabbard at the committee level was far from true.
It joins a handful of other Republicans from the committee who have already said that they will vote to advance Gabbard to the Senate floor, including the sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and James Lankford, R-Okla.
However, another Republican senator in the committee is still considered one to see, since Gabbard is expected to need all the votes of the Republican members to advance.
Senator Todd Young, Republican from Indiana, has not said how he plans to vote in the committee. Because of this, he has managed to obtain criticism from Trump Musk’s aligned billionaire, who recently stated in X that Young is a “deep state puppet” regarding his uncertainty about Gabbard. The publication has been eliminated since then.
A Young spokesman told Fox News Digital in a statement: “Senator Young and Mr. Musk had a great conversation about a series of issues and policy areas where they have a shared interest, such as Doge.”

Musk also shared in X during the weekend, explaining: “I only had an excellent conversation with (Young). I corrected. Senator Young will be a great ally to restore the people of the vast bureaucracy not chosen.”
While Collins’s support is a good omen for Gabbard’s destiny at the committee level, he also forecasts a better perspective between the complete Senate, given his vote against Hegseth. If you advance a floor vote, Gabbard can afford to lose only three Republican votes, assuming that you do not get any democratic support.
