The former NATO Chief, Jens Stoltenberg, will be the next Norway Finance Minister

The former NATO general secretary, Jens Stoltenberg, will become the next Norwegian finance minister, The Government announced Tuesday.

Stoltenberg directed the Western Military Alliance for 10 years before resigning in 2024 and delivering the reins to former Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte.

The new Stoltenberg post in Norway’s Minister of Finance is part of a reorganization of the cabinet that was announced by the Government on Tuesday morning and follows the collapse of the Norwegian ruling coalition last week in the middle of internal struggles on EU energy directives.

Stoltenberg, a member of the Norwegian Labor Party, is veteran of the political establishment of Norway and Europe and previously acts as the Norwegian Prime Minister twice, from 2000 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2013.

Stoltenberg will serve under the current country prime minister, Jonas Gahr Støre.
