Ukraine says that North Korean troops on the front line

The president of Ukraine said that the North Korean forces have returned to the first line in the western region of Kursk of Russia, after the reports had recently been withdrawn due to large casualties.

In a video address on Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky saidNew assaults “in the region partially occupied by Ukraine.

He added that “hundreds of Russian and North Korean military personnel” had been “destroyed.”

In January, Western officials told the BBC that they believed that at least 1,000 of the 11,000 troops sent by North Korea had been killed in the last three months. North Korea and Russia have not commented.

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large -scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Last week, The Ukrainian special forces fighting in Kursk told the BBC that they had not seen any North Korean troops there during the last 21 days.

A spokesman said it was likely to have been removed after suffering strong combat losses.

The spokesman added that he only referred to areas where his forces were fighting, without giving any detail about how much time that first -line line was.

Recent reports attributed to the intelligence of South Korea have suggested that the soldiers of the North Korea are not prepared for modern war, and are especially vulnerable to Ukrainian drones.

Military experts say that North Korean victims reports, if they continue at this rate, are unsustainable.

The soldiers were deployed after Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leader of Koream del Norte, Kim Jong Un, deepened bilateral ties in recent months, including the signing of a security and defense treaty.

Pyongyang’s help to Moscow now also extends to large amounts of ammunition and weapons.

The Ukrainian troops launched a ray offensive in Kursk six months ago, taking more than 1,000 km2 (386 square miles) of Russian territory.

Since then, Russian forces have managed to resume a considerable part of the region.

However, Ukrainian and Russian military bloggers have reported in the last two days a new impulse of Ukrainian troops in Kursk.

The Russian Army has said that the attacks have been repelled, but some reports suggest that Ukrainians have managed to confiscate more Russian territory. These have not been independently verified.

In other key developments on Friday:

  • Russia’s army said his forces captured a key city of Toretsk in the East Region of Donetsk of Ukraine, but a Ukrainian military spokesman said the fight continued in the industrial hub
  • The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that “he would probably meet with President Zelensky next week, and I will probably talk to President Putin. I would like to see that war ended.”
