Israel’s troops withdraw from the corridor that divided Gaza into two

Israeli troops have retired from the Netzarim corridor, a military zone that cuts the north of the Gaza Strip from the south.

The Sunday withdrawal of the eastern part of the corridor will leave the Israelis in control of the borders of Gaza, but not the path that had cut it in half.

The Haaretz newspaper says that the Interior of Gaza Ministry led by Hamas has been urging people to “be cautious and adhere to existing movement guidelines for their safety.”

The withdrawal of the troop occurs when an Israeli delegation is expected to fly to Qatar that has moderated the conversations between the two parties in the Gaza War.

The Israeli government has said that the delegation will initially discuss “technical issues” with respect to the first phase of the high fire agreement, instead of the second most challenging phase that is destined to lead to a high permanent fire, the exchange Of all living hostages in Gaza for more Palestinian prisoners and a complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces of Gaza.

That will require more direction of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is currently returning from the United States.

Netanyahu became the first foreign leader to meet with US President Donald Trump from his return to the White House on January 20.

During the trip, in the most dramatic change in American politics with respect to Gaza in decades, Trump requested the elimination of the entire civilian population of the territory and the development of what he called “the Riviera del Middle East.”

That suggestion, which would be a crime under international law, has been almost universally rejected, even by Arab states.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that it would not accept “any infraction of the inalienable rights of the Palestinians and any displacement attempt,” accusing Israel of “ethnic cleaning.”

Egypt has also rejected any idea of ​​the elimination of the Palestinian population and has said that it is calling an emergency summit of the Arab League on February 27 to discuss what it called “serious” Palestinian developments.
