Shakur Stevenson wants to see Tyson Fury fight IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois after losing his rematch against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night in Riyadh.
Fury should fight Dubois, but he won’t go near this apex predator. With the way Dubois reaches the body, Fury would be very vulnerable in his delicate condition.
I don’t think Shakur understands what Fury is about. He takes calculated risks and is unwilling to risk his head facing the Dubois walking guillotine. If Fury were true, Audie Murphy Dude, you wouldn’t have to ask him twice to confront Dubois. Although it’s not about that. Fighting Dubois would be bad for Fury’s health.
Too powerful, too young?
That would show a lot of courage for the Gypsy King to accept a fight with Dubois because after what he just went through, he wouldn’t want to suffer a third consecutive loss. It would be an easy fight to make, considering Fury and Dubois share the same promoter, Frank Warren.
Before Fury’s two losses against Usyk, he was considered the best fighter in the division. His fans saw him as the best and didn’t care that his resume lacked quality wins.
Many fans would also like to see Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) fight Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) next. This would allow him to break his two-fight losing streak and help generate interest in a fight against Anthony Joshua.
As things stand now, Fury would enter the fight with AJ with a record of 0-2 in his last two fights, making their clash a win-win. It’s almost impossible for Fury and his promoters to agree to a fight with the 27-year-old Dubois.
He’s too powerful, too dangerous, and too young for Fury. Usyk, who is not a puncher, was hurting the Gypsy King. The three fights Fury had against Deontay Wilder did something to him.
Fury’s calculated risks
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren and Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn are interested in arranging a fight between those two next. Hearn said he would like the first fight to be at Wembley Stadium in London and the second in Riyadh.
Hearn is in a big rush to make the Joshua vs. Fury fight because he knows that these two guys are no longer in a position to be trusted to fight top 15 contenders unless they have been well vetted beforehand and deemed 100% safe.
