President Donald Trump He has nominated a state official of Virginia to direct the drug control administration (DEA) in his new administration.
In a real social publication on Tuesday, Trump wrote that he nominated Terry Cole to become the next administrator of the DEA. Cole is currently the Secretary of Public Security and National Security for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
According to the website of the Virginia government, Cole was previously the head of personnel and executive official of the Special Operations Division of the Department of Justice of the DEA, and also served as a representative of the DEA for the National Security Council. The website also points out that Cole worked for the DEA for 22 years, although Trump wrote that he was used by the DEA for 21 years.
In a publication on social networks, Trump said he was “pleased” by announcing Cole, who will need to be confirmed by the United States Senate, as his nominee.

Trump originally named the Sheriff in Florida Chad Cronister As his first choice to lead the DEA, but Chronister, who serves as Hillsborough County Sheriff, then withdrew his name from consideration in December.
“Having been nominated by the president -elect @realdonaldtrump to serve as administrator of the drug control administration is the honor of his life,” Chronister wrote in an X publication at that time.
“In recent days, as established by the severity of this very important responsibility, he concludes that I must respectfully retire from consideration. There is more work to do for the citizens of the Hillsborough County and many initiatives that I am committed to satisfying.”
