Trump insists that he will take us to Gaza while he meets the king of Jordan

President Donald Trump has insisted once again that the United States will take control of the Gaza Strip, since he met the king of Jordan Abdullah in the White House on Tuesday.

It was his first meeting since Trump announced his proposal to take care of the enclave and move his population of two million Palestinians to other countries in the region, including Jordan.

Earlier this week, Trump suggested that he could retain help Jordan and Egypt unless they agreed to take those gazanes.

Jordan, a key ally in the Middle East, is already home to millions of Palestinians and has rejected the proposal. King Abdullah said after his meeting that Jordan’s “firm position (s) against the displacement of the Palestinians.”

But talking to journalists in the Oval office, with King Abdullah sitting on his right, Trump said he would not change his idea, which triggered the global conviction when he presented it last week.

“We are going to take it. We are going to hold it. We are going to appreciate it,” he said on Gaza.

Trump said “many jobs” would be created throughout the region if an American acquisition of the devastated territory occurred.

“I think it could be a diamond,” he said, adding that he now believes that the United States is “above” having to threaten other countries to participate.

King Abdullah sat in silence with Trump while the president repeated a proposal that would fly decades of established policy and could be equivalent to a violation of international law, which prohibits the forced transfer of populations.

Until now, Jordan has rejected the idea as a fundamental violation of international law, but has expressed in silence concerns about the capacity of the kingdom to absorb a large number of Palestinians.

On the possibility of adopting additional Palestinians, King Abdullah said that a solution that is “better for everyone” would be necessary. He said Jordan would take 2,000 evil Palestinian children.

Trump, however, seemed motionless and reiterated his position that he expects Jordan and Egypt to play a role in the resorted Palestinians of homes.

“I think we will have a plot of land in Jordan. I think we will have a plot of land in Egypt,” Trump said. “We can have another place, but I think that when we finish our conversations, we will have a place where they will live very happy and very safe.”

After the meeting, King Abdullah wrote in X that the meeting was “constructive” and that his “most important commitment is Jordan, with his stability and for the well -being of the Jordanians.”

But he made clear his country’s concerns with Trump’s proposal.

“I reiterated Jordan’s firm position against the displacement of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank,” he said. “This is the unified Arab position.”

“The reconstruction of Gaza without displacing the Palestinians and addressing the serious humanitarian situation should be the priority for all,” he added.

Jordan is already the home of millions of descendants of the Palestinian refugees who were forced from the land that became Israel in 1948, along with those whose roots are firmly found east of the Jordan River.

The country has also absorbed the waves of refugees in Syria, and depends largely on the United States economic and military assistance.

The UN has warned that any forced displacement of civilians from the occupied territory is strictly prohibited according to international law and the “equivalent to ethnic cleaning.”

Trump seemed to dodge a question about that UN warning.

“We are transferring them to a beautiful place where they can have new houses, where they can live safely, where they can have doctors and doctors and all those things,” he said.

King Abdullah said during the meeting that the matter would be discussed and that both parties should “wait until the Egyptians” can present ideas.

It is believed that the agreement with Egypt is a proposal for the future Gaza government, backed by other Arab states as a way of counteracting Trump’s plan.

While still being formulated, it is believed that the proposal could involve a local administration of technocrats extracted from Palestinians in Gaza, without joining factions, including Hamas.

Since he first revealed the US proposal during a press conference last week along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump has repeatedly doubled his plan for Gaza, saying that he is “committed to buying it and possessing it.”

In an interview with Fox News Broadcast earlier this week, Trump said that the two million residents of Gaza would be resettled and would not have the right to return.

“They wouldn’t, because they have a much better home,” he said. “I’m talking about building a permanent place for them.”
