Sony Q3 2025 profits

Sony on Thursday increased income and profit forecasts throughout the year after informing a significant leap in games sales for the third fiscal quarter.

This is how Sony did it in the quarter of December compared to the estimates of the analysts compiled by LSE:

• Income: 4.41 billion Japanese yen ($ 28.6 billion), versus 3.77 billion expected yen. That increased 18% year after year and exceeded the expectations of analysts.
• Operational income: 469.3 billion yen, versus 404.21 billion expected yen. That increased 1% year after year and also exceeded analysts’ estimates.

Sony said that now he hopes that the sales of his fiscal year 2024 reach 13.2 billion yen, 4% more than his November forecast. The Japanese technology giant also increased its perspective for annual operational profits by 2% to 1.34 billion yen.

The company pointed out that sales in its game and network division totaled 237.9 billion yen in the third fiscal quarter, growing 16% year after year. This was reinforced by an increase in console sales and games of games not first, including additional content.

Sony sold 9.5 million units of its PlayStation 5 console in the quarter of December, compared to 8.2 million in the same period of the previous year.

The quarter of December is a key period for Sony, which covers the popular Christmas shopping season, which is often a lucrative moment for consumer electronics companies.
