“I remain bewildered by the haste and superficial process by which this decision was reached,” Sassoon wrote in a letter to the attorney general Pam Bondi.
Adams, a Democrat who said he was attacked by the Biden Administration, has been willing to work with the repression of the Trump administration to stop illegal immigration. Adams declared himself innocent of the positions that he accepted bribes of Turkish officials.
“Instead of being rewarded, Adams’s defense should be called for what it is: an inadequate offer of immigration application assistance in exchange for a dismissal of his case,” Sassoon wrote to Bondi.
Adams’s lawyer Alex Spiro, told Reuters that charges against his client are a “farce.”
“If Sdny had any proof that the mayor destroyed the evidence, they would have brought those charges, as they continually threatened to do, but no, for months and months,” Spiro wrote. “This most recent false claim is only the separation photo of a wrong prosecution exposed as a farce.”
In his Memorandum on Thursday, Bove wrote that Sassoon had refused to comply with what he called the discovery of his office that the case against Adams was equivalent to the justice system weapon.
“Your resignation is accepted … You lost sight of the oath you made when you started in the Department of Justice,” he wrote.
“His office has no authority to dispute the discovery of arms,” Bove wrote, Trump’s former personal defense lawyer. “The Department of Justice will not tolerate insubordination.”

After Sassoon refused to dismiss the case, the Trump administration ordered John Keller, the interim chief of the Public Corruption Unit of the Department of Justice, to do so, according to people familiar with the matter.
Keller also resigned on Thursday, two people familiar with the matter said, as well as Kevin Driscoll, a senior department official. Criminal division.
Three other deputies in the Public Corruption Unit of the Department of Justice, Rob Heberle, Jenn Clarke and Marco Palmieri, also resigned on Thursday by the case of Adams, said a person familiar with the matter.
An official of the Department of Justice confirmed the resignations of Keller and Driscoll, and did not immediately respond to a request for comments on the other three.
