The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, requested the creation of a European army to boost the defenses of the continent by warning that Russia “was not preparing for dialogue” to advance in possible credible peace conversations.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had intelligence that Russia plans to send troops to her bellrusal ally this summer with training exercises, but warned that she represented a direct threat to limit NATO countries.
“We must build the Armed Forces of Europe, so that the future of Europe depends only on Europeans,” Zelenskyy told Munich’s Security Conference in Germany.
“Putin clearly sees Belarusia as a Russian province now now,” he added.
The Ukrainian president met with the American vice president JD Vance on Friday to discuss the growing hopes of a peace agreement by Russia-Ukraine, but pointed out that his country wanted “security guarantees” before any conversation with Russia begins.
“This is not a country that wants peace,” Zelenskyy said about Russia. “You are not preparing for dialogue.”
Zelenskyy on Friday He told NBC News that would be “very, very, very difficult” for Ukraine surviving without US military support, both now and in the case of a possible future Russian invasion.
He also told the conference earlier on the day Ukraine would need to double the size of his army if he could not join NATO.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has repeatedly said that US troops would not be parked in Ukraine to act as a deterrent to increase Russian aggression. He has suggested, on the other hand, that Washington and Kyiv would attack an economic pact, focusing on the wide supply of critical minerals of the latter, to provide the country in conflict with a postwar security shield.

Global defense and security officials meet in Munich, Germany, for the three -day annual conference, where the future of Ukraine, Peace Conversations with Russia and the remodeling of Europe’s Security and Defense Architecture are at the forefront of discussions.
The perspectives for a peace agreement returned to the forefront this week after President Trump made separate phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and, later, Zelenskyy. After initially indicating that a bilateral agreement could be reached between Washington and Moscow, Trump later said Zelenskyy of Ukraine would be involved, along with “many other people.”
American officials, however, have poured cold water into several of the hard lines of Zelenskyy for an agreement, and the secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, said on Wednesday that both the NATO membership and the restoration of the borders prior to 2014 of Ukraine were unrealistic results.
