Eighty -eight years ago, President Franklin Roosevelt He was before the American people in Philadelphia and warned about an economic aristocracy that sought not only to dominate our markets but our democracy.
He spoke of those who accumulated great wealth and then used that wealth to shape the laws of our nation and fulfill their own vision of the world, instead of the public good. And he promised that the government should serve people, not the privileged few.
That same challenge exists today, but now it is Billionaires take over our government. They bank the campaigns, install their loyal ones and want to control the government so that they can establish the rules. They drive deep cuts to public education, including the elimination of funds for decent schools and working class neighborhoods to finance mass taxes for the class of investors that we cannot pay.

They fight to deregulate social media platforms to increase the market value of the companies in my district, as well as the railway barons of the past fought against each part of the regulation to protect their profits.
How Democrats can crush Republicans in the economy and win partial exams
They move quickly and break things, treating our government as their own personal experiment, blind to the millions of Americans who trust their services and why. Because they believe they have the right to govern.
They see themselves as an aristocracy of talent, a few selected, whose wealth and success make them the legitimate decision makers for the rest of us. In their eyes, entrepreneurs, coverage fund managers and technological magnates They are the engines of the prosperity of the United States, while working families are expected to accept scratches that are reduced.
They believe that democracy should satisfy their vision, their profits and their power, regardless of the cost for society, they even refuse to accept what separates human beings from God, mortality itself.
We are at this time because for decades the Republicans have told us that the government is bad. Democrats must have the courage to argue that the government is good and can work.
My plan for Trump’s presidency. What I will do, and I will not,
That means defending decent schools in working -class neighborhoods that depend on federal funds. It means defending Pell subsidies that help children from low -income families to go to university and student loans that millions, like me, took out and pay to finish our education.
It means not harming all American families with a child with special needs that an IEP program needs and that depends on federal financing. It also means Social Security ProtectionMedicare and Medicaid so that all Americans can live with dignity and retire with economic security.
We must ask ourselves, will we allow a handful of powerful interests to dictate the future of our economy, our work and our democracy, or will we claim the promise of a America where anyone who works hard can prosper?

It depends on us to fulfill the radical American belief that our genius resides in common Americans that challenge a world history in which national glory belongs only to kings, oligarchs or politicians.
You will see, the distinctive excellence of the United States, Unlike Russia or ChinaIt is our belief in the unlimited potential of each citizen. Today, our government must face the impersonal economic forces that have taken away the livelihoods of those who work in factory cities and concentrated wealth in some cities.

Our government must make economic independence for citizens possible so that they can affirm control over their destiny. Just as Franklin Delano Roosevelt He defended the economic realists of his time, we must face today the impious alliance of wealth and power, not for resentment, but to resolve, not punish wealth, but to ensure that prosperity is built by and for people They make this country work.
That is our mission. This is our moment. And together, we will get up to meet it.
