RSF kills 200 civilians in the state of the white Nile, the activists say

More than 200 unarmed civilians have been killed in a group of villages in Sudan for three days by the Paramilitary Fast Support forces (RSF) who participate in a brutal conflict with the military, said a local rights group.

The emergency lawyers said that the attacks occurred in Al-Kadaris and Al-Khelwat to the north of the state of the white Nile, areas where the military had no presence.

RSF fighters were guilty of “executions, kidnappings, forced disappearances and property looting,” the network added.

The RSF, which was allied to the army before the civil war broke out in April 2023, has not commented on the accusations.

The two had come to power together in a coup d’etat, but fell on an internationally backed plan to move towards the civil government.

Some RSF senior leaders are currently in Kenya, where they are expected to announce plans to form their own government in areas under their control.

Analysts warn that the movement could deepen divisions in Sudan.

Humanitarians have been playing the alarm over Sudan, where the conflict has forced about 12 million people from their homes.

Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed, with the RSF and the army accused of committing atrocities.

In the heart of this conflict there is a fall between the de facto ruler of Sudan and the chief of the army Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and his vice president Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo, who leads the RSF.

The RSF recently received a significant blow when the army regained control of parts of the capital, Jartum, including its military headquarters.

Beyond the capital, the army has also won the almost total control of the Crucial State of Gezira.

After the setbacks, the RSF has recovered with the plans to launch a rival government in areas that still under its control, which are mainly in Darfur and parts of the state of Kordofan.

The RSF is found with allied groups in Nairobi to end the adoption of what calls a “political letter for the peace and unity government.”

General Burhan has rejected the measure and has promised to claim everything from Jardum.

He currently has its headquarters in Port Sudan, since he was forced to leave Jartum months after the civil war broke out when the RSF confiscated the military headquarters and the presidential palace.
