The body of a woman who was supposed to have been one of the four dead hostages killed by Hamas and delivered to Israel this week was positively identified on Saturday morning.
The headquarters of the Missing Families and Families forum confirmed the identification of Shiri Bibas, who was He returned to Israel On Friday after Hamas initially delivered a Palestinian woman from Gaza on Thursday.
Hamas on Friday delivered a coffin with remains of Bibas to the Red Cross, which turned TIt was tied to Israeli authorities. The coffin was taken to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for identification.
“Last night, our Shiri was returned home,” the family said in a statement. “After the identification process at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, we received this morning the news we feared: our Shiri was killed in captivity and has now returned home with his children, husband, sister and his whole family to rest.”

“Despite our fears about their destiny, we continue waiting for us to hug them, and now we are sore and with a broken heart,” he continued. “For 16 months we look for certainty, and now that it is here, it does not bring comfort, although we hope it marks the beginning of the closure.”
The family said that “Shiri was a wonderful mother for Ariel and Kfir, a loving couple from Yarden, a devout sister and aunt, and an incredible friend.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Hamas “would pay the total price” for allegedly delivering the body of a Palestinian woman of Gaza instead of the remains of Bibas.

The Israeli army said previously that he had positively identified the remains of the two children of Bibas, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, along with Oded Lifshitz. On Thursday he returned four bodies, but the one who is expected to be holding Shiri Bibas had no hostage.
Hamas said that “he has no interest in retaining any body in his possession.” The terrorist group said that the dead hostages delivered on Thursday had been killed by a Israeli air attack In November 2023 and that the bodies could have been mistakenly identified due to bombings in the area.
After the return of Shiri Bibas, the family asks for the return of the remaining hostages held in Gaza. Six will be launched on Saturday.

“In this difficult time, we continue to demand and asking for the immediate return of the remaining hostages that are still in captivity. There is no more important goal. There can be no rehabilitation without them,” said the Bibas family.
