Pope Francis, 88, rested for a ninth peaceful night at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome after a respiratory crisis and blood transfusions, said the Vatican on Sunday.
The update occurred after doctors said Francis, that he had part of a lung, eliminated when he was younger, was in critical condition.
It is not clear if I was awake and breakfast.

The Pope suffered a prolonged asthmatic respiratory crisis on Saturday while being treated by double pneumonia and a complex lung infection.
He received “high flows” of oxygen to help him breathe, and received blood transfusions after the tests revealed low platelet counts, which are necessary for coagulation, according to the Vatican.
Francis “continues alert and spent the day in an armchair, although with more pain than yesterday,” said the Vatican.

The doctors said that Francis’s forecast was “reserved.” Doctors have said that their condition is tactile, given their advanced age, fragility and pre -existing pulmonary disease.
The main threat is whether the infection enters the bloodstream, a serious condition known as sepsis, doctors said.
