Hunter Schafer, a transgender actor and star of the HBO series “Euphoria”, revealed that his new passport was issued with a male gender marker due to an executive order signed by the president Donald Trump.
Schafer, 26, published a video on social networks detailing how his passport had been stolen while he was Filming in Spain. After receiving an emergency passport, then he had to request a new and permanent one in Los Angeles. Schafer, who made the transition to the woman when she was a teenager, said that her original passport identified her as a woman, but the new one who received her as a man.
Schafer said he was not publishing the video to “create drama”, “Fearmonger” or “receive comfort”, but because he thought it was worth pointing out “the reality of the situation and that it is actually happening.”
“Trans people are beautiful. We will never stop existing. I’m never going to stop being trans,” he said in the video. “A letter and a passport cannot change that. And f — this administration.”

Trump signed the executive order“Defend women from the extremism of gender ideology and restore biological truth to the federal government,” on their first day in office. The order requires the Federal Government to recognize only two sexes, men and women, based on immutable biological characteristics, which must be reflected in official documents, such as passports.

Schafer recognized the executive order in his video of Tiktok: “Because our president, you know, there is a lot, I thought: ‘I will believe it when I see it.’ And, today I saw it,” said Schafer, holding his new page of Passport with the score “M”.
The 26 -year -old said she has had female gender markers in her license and passport since she was a teenager, although she said she did not have her amended birth certificate.
“It really does not change anything about me or my transercise. However, it makes my life a little more difficult,” Schafer said in the video, saying that he has to travel for the first time with the new passport next week.

The ACLU has said that they have been contacted by more than 1,500 transgender people or family members, “many with suspended or pending passport applications, which are worried about being able to obtain passports that precisely reflect their identity.”
