Alexander Kay She saw a lot in her decade plus in the music industry, but nothing compared to the scene behind the scenes on a Jelly roll concert.
“I walked through in minutes.” Morgan Wallen, Snoop dogg, Kelsea Balllerini, Ernest – it was a night (Jon) bon jovi was there? “Kay, 33, solely said Us every week. “Everyone was there!”
Kay opened for Jelly Roll, 40, on his Beautifully broken tour last year and had an explosion, but this year he is a headliner that started her Cupid’s and Cowgirl Tour on Sunday, February 23.
“There was a part of me that has been doing so long that I didn’t know I would ever get on such a show,” she said Our New tour, which in June in St. Louis will end. “So I’m so grateful and I can’t wait to see it.” We will play four new songs from the record. ”
The tour is named after its latest single “Cupid’s and Cowgirl”, which dropped on Friday, February 21. The album, which was largely about its divorce. (In 2022 was divided from her ex -husband)))
“I was in a really happy place and I’m still,” she remembered. “I mean. All I have ever knownMy divorce record, behind me. Everyone comes to you with the same kind of concepts when you relax divorce. … And it was my first kind to be like, “You know, I really want to give up.” ”
She succeeded because “Cupid’s Cowgirl” is a rough view of the only life that begins with lines: “He has a pistol in her blood / peekin’s pistol, looks for shame. ”
“We jumped on the couch, shouted, had fun,” Kay said Our Writing a song. “I think we disrupted all the other (sitting) in (studio), and I’m perfectly fine with it.”
“Cupid’s and Cowgirl” is now out. Before you start on the road Cupid’s and Cowgirl TourKay shared more Behind the scenes Life on the road:
I have a sprayer, so I always heat my vocal cords. Drinking like 10 bottles of water before I get off, so I have to get them all day. I just warmed up. I usually go live (on social media) while I do make -up so I can talk to everyone and tell them about where we go. And usually the people in the crowd who are waiting for me to come out are like, “When will you come out?”
I think I have more ritual after the show. I’m waiting for I get out of the stage and then fill my face. I would say pre-show, I have a protein drink. And then post-show, usually the chicken wings. I know it sounds crazy, but every time they are like, “What do you want for food after the show?” I am glad “just find a place that has chicken wings.” And that’s usually what I eat.

My ideal afterparty is to take a shower immediately after the show, get into my bunk, open the book on my Kindle, maybe a little crochet, rethink all my (instagram) stories from the show and then sleep a little. That’s my ideal night. Especially when I was on tour with Jelly Roll, I didn’t have many of them because they always have real afterparties – a lot, a lot of fun. But I’m like a grandmother in my heart.
I was probably behind the scenes when I opened myself for jelly in the Bridgestone Arena (in Nashville), because in minutes I walked through Morgan Wallen, Snoop Dogge, Kelsea Balllerini, Ernest – it was the night (Jon) Bon Jovi there? I don’t have fun, Bert KreiferEvery comedian you ever could think of, Jeffree StarThey were all there. And it was like, “This is the craziest experience to have all these people in one place.” But that’s just jelly. Everyone loves him, do you know? So you never know who you come across.
I pray – every time. It doesn’t matter if they are three people or whether it is an arena. I’m nervous every time, but I like it. I think that means I still care, and I still love it so much and I want it to be great for fans who are out there. When you stop being nervous, it is a bit of a sign that it is a little numb. And I’m far from it, so I’m still happy out of those nerves.
I usually have a cross on me somewhere. And if not, I have one tattoo on my wrist, so God is always with me everywhere. I also play with my friend (Rocko Beall). He’s my (music director) and my guitarist. I think I could say that I have my happy charm on stage every night.
“Everleave“Which is strange to say because it is my most emotional song and everyone in the crowd is really emotional. But there’s just something that happens when I play the song. The room is a universal recovery, and every time you can hear a drop in pin. Every time it heals me a little more. I am in a much better place than I was when I went through divorce, but I sing it, I have different respect. I do not hurt it anymore when I sing it, but I go back to these emotions and to the place to try to get people who are currently undergoing the other party.
I had an embarrassing moment (The Jelly Roll Tour) in which he asked me to sing the song at the last moment, and I went up there and caught it because I came in the wrong part. The most popular thing is to keep you on your feet. At the last minute he will come and will be like, “Hey, Ak, we will not make friends in low places tonight. You’ll do this. Well, see you for 30. “I’m glad,” Yeah, well, he’s never sang in my life. ” So it was a little embarrassing. That’s somewhere on the Internet if someone wants to find it!
I always get a magnet where we go from, especially when we were on our European tour last year. And now, Rock and I … we will sneak and do something, just the two of us, and our latest thing is to see the Broadway Show or Off-Broadway show because we are both theater stupids. We love it, so we try to see the show wherever we go. And so not only now I have my collection of magnets from Germany and Holland, and wherever we played, I also have a collection of magnets from all the shows we saw when we were tour. So I’ll have to get a larger refrigerator!
