The representative Byron Donalds, Republican of F-Fla., Announced plans to run for the governor of Florida next year during an interview in “Hannity” by Fox News on Tuesday night.
The next election of Governor of Florida is scheduled for November 3, 2026. Speaking to the host Sean Hannity, Donalds said he made the decision to run “after many prayers (and) many thoughts with my family and my friends.”
“Sea, we have a wonderful state,” said Donalds. “I arrived in Florida when I was 17, outside a Galgo bus with just a trunk full of clothes. And for the rest of my time in Florida, I built a family, I built a race … I could serve four years in a legislature State, four years in Congress.
“And I think now is the time to take the mantle and take our state to the future.”

Florida’s Republican said he is the only candidate in the race so far and praised Florida Governor Ron Desantis for its service to the State.
“We have a great governor. Ron Desantis has done a tremendous job for our state,” Donalds said. “But now work is to maintain the best state in the country as the best state in the country. And that will be the mission in question. And I am excited to announce my candidacy tonight.”
Donalds was backed by the president Donald Trump, Who recently wrote that his Sunshine State resident “would be a truly large and powerful governor for Florida.”
“I’m listening to that very respected Congressman Byron Donalds He is considering running for Governor of Florida, a state that I love, and won in 2016, 2020 and 2024, “said a post of Trump’s social networks.

Desantis, however, has not indicated support for Donalds. On Monday, Desantis told journalists that he wants Florida’s congressmen to “focus on promulgating Trump’s agenda).”
“They haven’t done much yet,” said Desantis. “They are not establishing their executive orders. We will see what they do in spending, but we have a majority so narrow that trying to campaign in other places and lose these votes, I think, it is not something that is advisable at all.”
Desantis’s comments occurred in the midst of rumors that his wife, Casey, could run for governor. The Governor of Florida dodged the question of a reporter about his wife’s plans at a press conference on Monday.

“People ask me all the time about our wonderful first lady, who has done a fantastic job as Florida’s First Lady,” Desantis replied. “I will tell you this. You are talking about someone like her. I won by the greatest margin that any Republican has won a governor race here in Florida. She would do it better than me.”
