Pope Francis slept well, resting while health shows a slight improvement: the Vatican


Pope Francis I had a peaceful night and rested on Thursday morning, announced the Holy See, after doctors said the 88 -year -old pontiff has shown a lighter improvement while fighting double pneumonia.

Francis has been hospitalized for almost two weeks at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome for Pneumonia in its two lungs. He had breakfast and continued his therapy on Thursday morning in a good mood, authorities said.

“Pope slept well last night and is now resting,” said the Holy See in a brief statement. The results of more medical tests were expected later on Thursday.

The Vatican said in a statement on Wednesday night that doctors reported that the renal insufficiency that had been detected in recent days had retreated, blood tests showed a slight improvement and a computed tomography thorax showed that their complex lung infection was taking the “normal evolution” as it is.

The Vatican He also said that the Pope, who had part of a lung eliminated when he was young, remains in “high flow oxygherapy” but has not had more respiratory crises since Saturday.

While Francis’s health showed a “slight improvement,” said the Vatican, his “prognosis remains reserved.”
