“OMG GUYS I LITERALLY F-ED THE MURDERER OF THE CEO OF UNITED HEALTHCARE,” Calloway, 33, wrote via X on Monday, December 9, the same day Mangione was arrested by police while eating at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He has since been charged with murder in New York and faces four other charges, including one count of forgery and criminal possession of a firearm, CNN reported.
In a follow-up tweetCalloway wrote: “Okay, technically he wasn’t the killer when we f—ed. …that I know of. But still!!!!”
Some people were quick to express doubt about the accuracy of Calloway’s claim.

Calloway has previously been called out for living a lie. In a essay for 2019 The Cut titled “I Was Caroline Calloway”, Calloway’s ex-girlfriend Natalie Beach she recalled getting paid to ghostwrite Calloway’s Instagram captions when she discovered Calloway had bought fake social media followers and helped Calloway write her book. (Calloway received a six-figure contract to write a memoir titled Schoolgirl but in 2017 she backed out and returned most of her $100,000 deposit.)

Calloway can be counted on to exaggerate her eyebrows online. Her recent claim about Mangione comes months after she said it “he didn’t fire someone who can read in two years” during an appearance on the “No Jumper” podcast in May.

It’s unclear whether Calloway is telling the truth or joking about her alleged connection to Mangione. Mangione is suspected of shooting and killing Thompson on Wednesday, December 4 outside the entrance to the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel in New York City. Mangione was arrested Monday in Pennsylvania after a five-day manhunt.
