Johnson also spoke with Kristen Welker from NBC News on Sunday during “Meet The Press”, during which Johnson was pressed if the United States was abandoning Ukraine.
“I was with the president one day before that meeting, and he was excited about this mineral rights agreement. He believed it, and we all believed it was the best for both countries. He is not the president and vice president who rebuked Zelenskyy. I saw on the other side. I saw Zelenskyy rather than he did rather in the Oval. In front,” Johnson said.

“It is quite absurd for anyone in the media or Democrats to proclaim in some way that President Trump, the White House or the Republicans in Congress are on the Putin side,” Johnson told Welker.
Johnson was pressed on what he thought of Vladimir Putin de Russia during his CNN interview as well.
“I think Vladimir Putin is an old school communist, a former KGB agent. And it should not be trusted, and it is dangerous. The way I see this is that China, Russia, Iran and North Korea are involved in a new powers, and are not on the side of the United States,” he replied.

Trump accused Zelenskyy of “not respecting” the United States during their meeting on Friday and said that the Ukrainian leader was not ready to ensure peace for his country.
“I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if the United States is involved, because he feels that our participation gives him a great advantage in the negotiations,” Trump said in a real social position on Friday. “I don’t want advantage, I want peace.
