SHANGHAI (Reuters) – China will cut import tariffs on ethane and other renewables and aluminum from next year, the government said on Saturday.
The Ministry of Finance has announced changes to various import tariffs, effective January 1, aimed at increasing the value of goods, boosting domestic demand and encouraging higher levels of openness. said in a statement.
Temporary rates below the nationally-preferred rates will be applied to 935 items, the agency said. Import tariffs will be reduced on ethane and other recycled copper and aluminum materials to promote green and low-carbon development.
Tariffs will increase on products including molasses and pre-added sugar powders but will be reduced on items such as cyclic olefin polymers, ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers and automatic transmissions for special purpose vehicles. such as fire trucks and repair vehicles.
Import tariffs will also be reduced on items such as sodium zirconium cyclosilicate, viral vectors for CAR-T tumor therapy, and nickel-titanium alloy wires for surgical implants.
The China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement will come into force on January 1, with tariff reductions in effect, the ministry said.
