The leader of the minority of the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., has noticed that he plans to attend the president Donald Trump’s Tuesday night’s speech before a joint session of Congress.
“Given my responsibilities in the Chamber, I plan to attend the speech, together with other members of democratic leadership, to make clear the nation that there is a strong opposition party ready, willing and capable of serving as a control and balance on the excesses of the administration,” Jeffries said in a message to colleagues.
Trump’s speech will come less than two months in his Second presidential term.

“The decision to attend the joint session is personal and we understand that the members will reach different conclusions,” Jeffries said.
“However, it is important to have a strong, determined and dignified democratic presence in the Chamber. The Chamber as an institution belongs to the US people, and as its representatives will not be leaving the block or intimidated,” he continued.
Some Democratic legislators have announced that the event will jump.

“The state of the Union is that the president is spitting before the law,” Senator Patty Murray, D-Wash., Said in a Monday post on X. “He is letting a investigator of multimillion-dollar firefighters not chosen and destroying federal agencies such as the Social Security Administration at will. I will not attend the joint direction of tomorrow.”
House speaker Nancy Pelosi Family broke Trump’s speech pages in 2020 after the president delivered his speech from the State of the Union.

“Our approach remains to reduce the high cost of living for everyday Americans and support the extreme right of the extreme right that Republicans have unleashed in the country,” Jeffries said. “Thank you all for your continuous leadership in the name of people and in defense of the American lifestyle.”
