Arizona Republicans are trying to eliminate the testimony of a transgender young man against the State Save Sports Law on the accusations of plagiarism.

The document alleges that Shumer took the wording of Stephen Rosenthal, a witness in the case that challenges the Alabama Law that prohibits surgeries and hormonal therapy for minors, and Joshua Safer, a witness in the case that challenges the Women’s Virginia Save Save Sports Law, and did not give an adequate attribution.
An example highlighted by Petersen is that in a report issued on October 10, 2024, Shumer copied the almost literal writing of the Rosenthal report presented on April 21, 2022.
Rosenthal’s wording reads, “Any attemps to ‘cure’ transgender individuals by forcing their gender identity into alignment with their assigned sex are Harmful, Dangerous, and ineffective. Health Professionals, Such As Wph, The American Medical Association, The American Academy of Pediatrics, The American Psychiatric Association, and the American Psychological Association. ”
Shumer’s writing says: “The attempts to ‘cure’ the transgender people by forcing their gender identity to alignment with the sex of their birth are harmful and ineffective. These practices have been widely denounced as little ethical by all the main professional associations of the Medical Association and of Mental Health, such as the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics of Pediatrics, the American Association of Pediatric Psychiatric, and the mental association, among others, among others.
