The terrorist attacks of lone wolf were more common than ever in the West during 2024, since terrorism continues to spread throughout the world, according to a new report of the global terrorism index (GTI).
The GTI published its 2025 report on Wednesday, discovering that the number of countries that registered a terrorist attack He grew from 58 in 2023 to 66 last year. That invests almost a decade of improvement in the subject, said GTI.
In the West, 93% of the fatal attacks were carried out by solitary wolf terrorists.
“Most Western attacks are now carried out by individuals without formal group affiliations, which radicalize through social networks, game platforms and encrypted messaging applications,” GTI said in his report.

“The change towards online radicalization has allowed potential terrorists to access the extremist content and organize with minimal physical contact. Algorithmic radicalization in popular social media sites can lead users to progressively more extreme content over time,” the report continued.
The report occurred on the same day that US authorities arrested a suspect that the Department of Justice says he confessed to exploring the attack route in 2021’s Bombing of the Abbey Gate in Afghanistan, that left 13 members of the dead service.
