The Beija-Flor Samba School has been crowned winner of the famous Carnival Parade of Rio de Janeiro.
A thousand gathered in the Giant Sambadrome Arena in the city to see the 12 best Samba schools fight for this year’s title.
Beija-Flor was crowned winner on Wednesday for the 15th time, beating the river a little.
His performance was a tribute to his late director, Luiz Fernando Ribeiro do Carmo, better known as Laíla, who died in June 2021 with COVID-19.
While the general theme of the Beija-Flor parade was a tribute to his late director, he also presented floats with pyrotechnic exhibitions and dancers dressed as demons.
The actions are judged in 10 categories by a total of 40 judges.
One of the 12 best Samba schools that competed for the title was Paraíso do Tuiuti, whose dancers paraded in lush feathers.
Among the incredible variety of costumes and performances, Vila Isabel’s ghosts dressed completely blank were a counterpoint to the typical calaidoscopic costumes of the Rio Carnival.
The artists of the large Samba School River, who found himself second behind Beija-Flor, watched the parade.
Mitocade delighted the spectators with a giant puppet.
Many of the dancers of Mitocade wore futuristic costumes, inspired by their main song, which this year was entitled to the future, there are no sleep limits.
Imperatrix was third this year with a parade that included Juerguistas adorned with gold and white skulls.
Portela Samba School paid tribute to the legendary Brazilian musician Milton Nascimento. The 82 -year -old singer and composer greeted the crowd during the parade.
Despite his impressive floats, United of Father Miguel arrived last year and, therefore, will not compete at the upper level in 2026.
