TikTok star Great Darnellluxury Christmas haul went viral due to speculation that many of the designer gifts were actually scams.
“I don’t know what to say because I don’t really owe you an explanation,” said Darnell, 20, on Friday, the 27th. TikTok video. “Some of my things that are designer are real and some of my things are fake. I thought that was everyone’s business.”
She added, “I know that the people I go to college with (and) their parents have way more money than I could ever imagine they have (and they) have real and they have fake. I didn’t know it would be such a big deal.”
After Christmas on Wednesday December 25 Darnell and sister Izzy posted individual videos from luxury holiday gifts they got from their parents. The videos, which have since been deleted from TikTok, featured the sisters marveling at handbags and shoes from Chanel, Dior and more famous luxury brands. (Darnell initially gained notoriety as one of the “Bama Rush” hopefuls who went through the University of Alabama’s 2022 sorority recruiting.)

Social media users flooded both influencer comment sections, claiming that most of the items were not actually branded as advertised.
“I have real and I have fake. I didn’t know it was going to blow up the world,” Darnell said Friday. “My mom (gave) us some real stuff and some fake stuff. I thought it was normal. I didn’t mean to offend anyone, but whenever my mom gave me Christmas presents, I was raised to be grateful for everything I got.’

According to Darnell, she would never ask for “a card showing that it’s authentic.”

“I would never do that to anyone. I’d say, ‘Oh, thank you. I love it.” And I would wear it all the time,” she emphasized. “I’ve seen so many people who are super rich like, ‘I don’t care if it’s real or fake. “Who cares?” So I didn’t think it would be a problem to publish it.’
Darnell – who went on to note that she “didn’t even think to ask” about the authenticity of each gift – also clapped back against the “far-fetched” rumors about her family and their financial situation.

Darnell and her sister forwarded their holiday haul on Saturday, December 28 and “shared receipts” from each purchase.
“We have to show the tags or you’re going to size us up,” Darnell joked, holding up a Louis Vuitton handbag bought second-hand from Forward, a luxury goods website.
